Nearby Recreation and Attractions
There are many adventures awaiting you that are close to your St. John vacation villa, Gecko House, many within walking distance.

The south shore of St. John has many hidden coves and wonderful seaside hikes along sandy, coral and rocky beaches, perfect for beachcombing. Very few tourists ever visit here so you will have this magical spot to yourselves to explore and discover the true riches of this natural island paradise.

From Gecko House, it is an easy five-minute walk down to Fish Bay. The bay is not the best for swimming as it is shallow and an estuary around the mangroves where fish spawn and grow. Fishbay is great for kayaking or wading in the shallow waters, and walking along paths trough the mangroves. There is a family of deer that live just below the house and are seen frequently on the grounds just below Gecko House, near the bay.

A 3-minute drive will take you to Klein Bay, a rocky beach also perfect for snorkeling. Both Rendezvous and Klein Bay beaches are not visited by many tourists, so many times you will have the beach to yourselves, if the locals are not there enjoying the peace, quiet and natural beauty.

Another 3-minute drive takes you to the hidden entrance of Reef Bay, in the VI National Park. You’ll take a short hike down to Reef Bay’s untouched beaches where you will find very few people and a magnificent view of the south side of the island of St. John and the British Virgin Islands beyond. You can walk along the waters edge to find sugar plantation ruins, and hike up the Reef Bay trail to a waterfall where you’ll find petroglyphs carved into rocks by the Taino Indians many centuries ago.
